Andreamos is located in Andalusia - an area of Spain renown for its vibrant culture and rich gastronomy. Most of Andalusia is covered in olive and almond trees so these ingredients feature regularly in the food. Andalusia produces some of the best Jamon Serrano - Spanish dry-cured ham, of which the best of the best - Jamón Iberico de Bellota - can be found in the Alpujarras mountains where black-footed pigs feast on fallen acorns. This area is only 1.5 hour's drive from the flats and villas of Andreamos.
The province of Jerez is only 1 hour's drive away - and there you can find the world famous apertif wine Sherry. Sherry comes in a range of styles and sweetnesses; from the dry, light and yeasty finos to the dark, rich, oxidised olorosos. The sherry producing area is located near the Atlantic coast so there is an abundance of cheap, fresh seafood in the local restaurants.
The region around Malaga is famous for its sweet wines. There you can find old Bodegas - or wine cellars - which serve little glasses of the sweet nectar with different types of tapas, all for around a euro. The prodominant grape variety used is Pedro Ximenez (or PX) which gives very dense, black, intensely sweet wines - perfect with dessert or as an chilled apertif. Malaga is also popular for its food markets. There in the fabulous Moorish-built covered market you can find every food product from Spain, from olives to strawberries, to prickly pears and hares.
The flats and villas of Andreamos are located just 20 minutes from the Mediterranean coast where you can find excellent seafood restaurants. Just a short drive around the surrounding countryside will also allow you to pick up bags of oranges and avocados from farmers' groves for just a few euros. And there are a wealth of good Spanish tapas bars to be found in the local villages and towns.
The flats / villas of Andreamos have complete kitchens with all untensils/cutlery/crockery and rooms are fully prepared for arrival. There are BBQs on the terraces and some have outdoor kitchens and private, solar-heated swimming pools. The bulk of the accommodation is in Alhaurin, located 40 minutes from Malaga International Airport and discount car hire from the airport can be recommended.
